Live and Let Die (1973)

[Movie 70 / Day 42]

This is one of my favourite 'classic' Bond movies. It was Roger Moore's first outing as the British super-spy, and EON Productions seem to have pulled out all the stops to make it a good one. Yes, there is some one-liners in there, and yes, the storyline is a bit silly - but it also features several classic Bond set-pieces; like the double-decker bus chase (hand brake turning a bus is cool), the speed-boat chase (including jumping across the road and 'driving' across dry land several times), the taxiing aeroplane chase and the running across crocodiles stunt.

On top of all of that, Moore is probably at his coolest (although he can't come close to Sean Connery at the height of his powers) and it features one of the baddest of bad ass baddies, Baron Samedi. Not to mention the best Bond theme tune ever.

'Tis ace.

My rating: 7.1 / 10
IMDB rating: 6.8 / 10
Running time: 121 mins
